Ercoupes are only 14 volt and I would never recommend upgrading them to anything else. I am putting a 120 volt/ 400 Hz gyro horizon in my coupe project. I built an AC inverter for it (I'm an electronic engineer). FAA approval will be standing in the way, but I am doing it.

Question..... I am thinking about putting in a attitude gyro in my coupe, I did some measuring and looks like there is not enough room in the instrument panel. I have an old one that is 8 inches and that put it right up to the fire wall with no room for the lines. So I was thinking of an electric attitude gyro which is only 6 inches but there is a 14 volt and a 28 volt gyro. So is our Ercoupe's 14 volts or 28 volts ? I was also entertaining the thought of installing the Dynon instrument, but I don't think the Ercoupe would support it with all the hook ups needed. Any thoughts ? http://www.dynonavionics.com/ThanksScott N3005HYour Coupe is 14 VoltYou'd need field approval to install anything from Dynon. This is taken right from their web pageDynon's products are not FAA certified, but are permissible under the new US Light Sport Aircraftrule where the manufacturer has approved its use.============================================================================== To leave this forum go to: http://ercoupers.com/lists.htm
