There would be no carbon after a complete overhaul and to switch to what ever oil you
prefer should be ok.

----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]---- When you say using mineral oil for several years....1) after an overhaul, is the carbon still there or is it effectively removed by doing the overhaul? Would it be ok to switch to PLUS after an overhaul? 2) do you suspect carbon to be formed after only 30 hours after a major? Is 100 or 100 plus a synthetic? I'm considering changing from mineral oil to a synthetic. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [email protected] Sent: Mon, 19 Jun 2006 17:54:42 EDT Subject: Re: [COUPERS-TECH] Oil ----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]---- Be cautious about using 100 W or Plus. If your engine has a filter, AND has been using oil other than mineral oil, then you can use 100 W. But these engines were designed to use mineral oil, and if that is what has been used since overhaul, I recommend continuing to use it. If you switch to 100 W or Plus, after using mineral oil for several years, you could really mess up the insides of the engine by breaking loose a lot of carbon. The carbon can block oil passages, and really create havoc with the internal workings.
