Try removing the cover then check by fast taxi. If that works, either (1) buy a new one from Spruce - cheap, or (2) just leave it off. If a new or old cover is retained, try to check it while taxiing to see it airspeed comes off the peg. In my case, the 40 year old pitot cover wore out the tiny hinge pin from repeated operation. Good luck. As you know, the airspeed indicator isn't necessary for flight - but nice to have!

Subject: [COUPERS-TECH] Malfunction Airspeed Indicator
Date: Mon, 26 Jun 2006 05:29:05 -0700 (PDT)----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]----Guys - when I took off from Terrell I quickly noticed that my airspeed indicatior was not working. It did not move from 0 mph. When I landed at ADS (Addison - in the Dallas area) I checked the pitot tube cover and it was moving as designed. There is no visible clogging of the inlet. There appears to be a sort of screen in the inlet end of the pitot tube.Any good ideas on where to start looking to fix this problem?
