eliacim,
very recently i had similar symptoms on my C90 powered 415D. carburator
(marvel) was perfectly ok, it simply was a leaking primer-pump that did
not close the pipe, although it was locked.
my suggestion: try to disconnect the primer-pump and check wether
mixture is too rich anymore.
good luck and fellow greetings from germany

Subject: [COUPERS-TECH] Malfunction Airspeed Indicator
Guys - when I took off from Terrell I quickly noticed that my airspeed
indicatior was not working. It did not move from 0 mph.
When I landed at ADS (Addison - in the Dallas area) I checked the pitot tube cover and it was moving as designed. There is no visible clogging of the inlet. There appears to be a sort of screen in the inlet end of the pitot tube.
Any good ideas on where to start looking to fix this problem?
Tandy

Thanks to all the fine folks at Terrell who gave me advice: Harry Francis, WR
Bayne, Lynn Nelsen, John Wright, & many others (apologize for the lousy
memory).
Late Sunday afternoon:
1. Took air filter out and checked carb heat plate. It's working fine
2. Replaced air filter element
3. Externally inspected gasket on cyl 1 air intake port (looks fine)
4. Adjusted one of the rubber hose air intake sections, which seemed shifted.
Tested. No success.
Adjusted another of the rubber hose air intake sections, and tested again.
Initially, it seemed we had the same problem, however, while playing with the
mixture control, the tach suddenly jumped into the green RPM range.
Eventually, the plane was able to take off (RPMs in the low green) with the
mixture control fully out (lean). Never, ever we have needed the mixture out
to get the RPMS in the green for takeoff.
Flew for nearly an hour (over and next to the airport) and the RPMs were lower
than normal, but the plane was getting better and better as time passed on,
and as it gained altitude. At the end, the tach would get to the red line,
without leaning.
Landed and took off again. Seemed OK.
Landed, with the intention of taking off a third time, but then, static RPMs
wouldn't go over 1900 indicated at full power, even with full leaning, so, no
take off. Something had just changed. All the improvement on the last 1/2 hour
suddenly went away.
Conclusion so far:
Something's keeping the mixture too rich, but kind of intermittently.
A carb malfunction would be an amazing, hard to believe coincidence, since in
all the repairs made, the carb was not ever touched.
Open the carb? Then, what? Is this something any A&P can tackle, or is it some
kind of specialty?
Send the carb out to be overhauled? Where? Can anybody recommend a good carb
overhaul facility? Any idea of the cost?
At least, now we know a little more.
Thanks
Eliacim Cortes
