Folks

I have a Bose headset for me (yes I'm very lucky) and a Denali ANR headset for my passenger. These are plugged into a David Clark 4 place portable intercom. The intercom is then plugged into a Garmin GPS/COMM 190 portable for radio work. Why? Because thats what I had hanging around when I bought 94191 which came with no avionics. The only problem I had was with wind noise on the boom mic's (both units), That was solved with a foam insert over the mic....very happy with both units....

To Alan and All .regarding noise cancelling headsets- look up Headsets Inc on the net they have a kit  you install in your own headsets.I bought  a couple of them-  one for my son and one for me and built them  per plan .They work rather well- flip the switch on the set and I hear  even with the sliders down.about  2 hundred bucks each hi tech  den 99564 OSH is just a flock away ds

I've had good luck with lightspeed headsets in all types of aircraft. I have a set of 20XL and 3G.  I have had lightspeed headsets since they first came out (price sold me).  Service has been great. Any problem has been fixed at no charge and in one case since I fly almost daily they just sent me another pair and kept the ones being repaired for a very minor problem. On the 3G I have had a problem after a 5 or 6 hour flight when descending from altitude (Twin). I get a humming sound that will increase the lower I get. After a few flights I noticed if I readjusted the headset on my head the noise would go away. In our Forney which I fly an average of 5 day a week, twice a day, the 20xl works fine, no problems.  The 3G  I pick up the strobe.  I use hearing aids when not flying. You might hear more.  My wife, has perfect hearing, says the 20XL works fine but also hears the strobe slightly in the 3G. I do lots of pattern work, windows open.  Favorite way to fly an Aircoupe is with the headset in the bag, radios off, windows open and a bib grin on my face!!

I have tried a borrowed set of lightspeeds in an open cockpit coupe with mixed results. I found that the outside noise was too much for them and strange enough they degraded considerably when flying pattern altitude or lower.
Any similar experiences?
It could be that they were just borrowed and not the best...
