My engine has used Phillips XC 20W50 since overhaul 900 hrs ago.  I had run it year round.  However, with the extremely hot weather we've had recently, and the engine getting a little older, I did switch to straight 50 weight Aeroshell 100W for the summer.  I'll go back to the Phillips in the fall.  Our A&P does not recommend the 100 Plus though.   Phillips get great reviews by those that use it.  However, some folks don't think a multigrade is right for the small engines.  I don't think you're going to be wrong either way.  roger

Subject: [COUPERS-TECH] Oil Grades

----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]----

Question
Which oil grades are preferred (single grade or multi grade) for the small continentals?
I use Phillips 20W50 and have good pressure and temps. I am just courious
as to which would be best, or if one had an advantage over the other.
