What can cause nose gear lower nutcracker link assembly (part number 415-34019) to bend?

 

Is the nutcracker the only mechanism preventing nose gear "inner oleo strut cylinder" assembly from rotation?

 

Could such a force also damage the "Control Horn Assembly" under the seat or  "Mast Assembly Control" behind the seat where ailerons, elevator and rudders are connected?

 

Your insight is greatly appreciated.
