Hello there. Some Questions and some of my recollections.

_ Was the aircraft left sitting tied outside in hot sun with auto gas in the
tanks ?

_ Over that time period did you add any FUEL STABILIZER to the fuel in the
tanks ?

_Were the fuel tank inlets Covered such to keep water out ?

_ Did you take or send a quart sample to any Refinery Lab for analysis ?
[No Charge to you ]

Auto fuel is intended to be used soon after Refining and normally that is
what happens everywhere.
When stored for long periods, it will often form gums, and in hot climates,
perhaps quite rapidly.
Fuel Stabilizer is useful in such cases because the amounts of Oxidation
Inhibiters and Metal Deactivators that the Refinery adds to their [cracked ]
gasoline may well be minute given that the autogas normally gets used soon
after refining.

If the auto fuel is left sitting in A/C tanks out in the hot sun,the fuel's
light ends would evaporate leaving only the heavier hydrocarbons. Because
the fuel is highly cracked [olifins] it would not require much heat to form
some polymers in the presence of the metal tanks I would imagine..

Most Avgas fuels that I have been aware of are different chemically. They [
here in Canada ] do not contain cracked material and therefore can be stored
very much longer without forming gum. [ I believe that to be still true even
though I have been out of the Refining Business several years. ]

I have used auto gas for some 40 years yet have never experienced what you
describe. The colder climate here in the North may have been beneficial.
I do however go to some lengths to make certain that water does not get into
my tanks. The algae that you describe most likely was located at the
interface between the fuel and the water layer.

The above is just my humble opinion.
