75% power for most aircraft is generally a high end cruise throttle setting.  65% is considered more of an an economy cruise setting.  It doesn't have anything to do with a percentage of the total range of a prop rpms from idle to full throttle.    You really need the charts furnished with your aircraft to tell you what is 75% rpm setting at different altitudes.  A wild guess on a C90 would be in the 2400 rpm range however.  roger

Subject: [COUPERS-TECH] What RPM is 75% power?

----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]----

Coupers, I have a McCauley CM 7150, IB 90 prop mounted on a C-90 with 100+ hours
since major overhaul. 2400 to 2450 Rpm seems to be the max I can get out of this setup.
This is all mounted on a 1967 A2-A. When people refer to fuel consumption as being so many
gallons per hour at 75% power , what do they mean?

If I take 75% of 2400, I get about 1800 RPM. If I flew at 1800 rpm my fuel consumption
would be about 4 gph or less.  However, this would not do the engine any favors, I'm sure.

So, my question is what do they mean, 75% power???

Scott
