Sorry, I forgot to post my last to you to the group as well, so I will post it again so if you see it again, not to worry.

I have to agree with you and I had forgot to mention it. In some instances, a plug in intercom will cause audio problems. I don't think it's that in this case but never leave any rock unturned when troubleshooting. If your intercom is a plug in intercom, unplug it and try the flight again. If it clears up, that's the problem.

John,
    I agree with all you had to say about intermod.
 Did you catch that Chad said that he also was having a Xmit problem at the same time the receiver went scratchy? It all cleared up and the tower could hear him fine when he got away from the strong RF field.  I wonder if the interfering RF isn't getting detected some where on the audio side of his radio or intercom.
