----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]----I'm frustrated. My 'coupe got its' lower cowl repainted this Spring so I could get rid of the blue fuel stains from the "steel needle leak" from the Stromberg carb (-least, that's what I was told was the deal). Then I put clear polyurethane over the new paint on the inside to help me clean the stains if they did happen. Well, I had always remembered to shut off the cowl tank valve, but I had it in the radio shop for some work. They ran it, and of course, forgot to turn off the fuel valve, and now I'm back to blue stains both inside and outside in (on?) the paint. Won't clean up - tried everything I can think of (using fuel, cleaners, Brakekleen, mineral spirits, alcohol, soap, hand cleaner, cleaner polish, Simple Green, dishwasher soap, oil...) and even called Phillips Petroleum. They didn't know. Anybody got any ideas?2nd question: is there a good alternative to the typical "steel needle leak" on a Stromberg when you don't shut off the gravity feed from the cowl tank? I am not keen on fooling with the way my C-90 runs, as it runs really well. But it really dribbles out the fuel if somebody forgets the cowl tank valve shutoff at shutdown. Bet it lost a gallon out on the ramp before somebody noticed the fuel leaking. Now have stains both inside and down the outside of the lower cowl. (Shucks!)Yeah, I know, Syd... & you too Arden... Polished airplanes don't have staining problems! -Touche!-Ron============================================================================== To leave this forum go to: http://ercoupers.com/lists.htm
