I purchased a clip on mirror from Wal Mart that has a spring loaded clamp and fits on the vertical window brace. The mirror also has a swivel function which allow you to reposition for better viewing angels. I believe the mirror was designed for bikes.I would rate it's clarity at about 7 on the 1 to 10 scale. Subject: [COUPERS-TECH] Rear View Mirror

----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]----

I recently posted a description of the rear view mirror I attached to my ALON canopy handle. Subsequent flights have shown this not to be such a great idea. The mirror is tiny and the vibration of the canopy causes blurring and distortion. I moved the mirror to the windshield centerpost Where Dennis Spiegel has one on his Ercoupe. I Velcyroed it to the upper rear surface of the compass mount. It works better there, but still too much vibration, which can be minimized by placing a fingertip on it to steady it when looking aft.  I still can't recommend it. Dennis says his mirror is a plastic one (no compass problems) and is quite a bit larger than my 4" x 1 1/8" one). Wayne Wollard sent me a photo of his mirror of about that description. It is mounted on his ALON glareshield. I tried a hand mirror in that location, but I can't see below my horizontal tail from that angle. So, I'd welcome any input telling me where to purchase a small (but not tiny) plastic, panoramic mirror which I would affix to my centerpost between the compass and the OAT gauge. Gyro stabilization would be a nice feature!  Don Bowen
