Ron,

Defaulting to the sender only is the way it's set to work. That's the way
we've had our Coupe lists working for the last seven or more years on the
old server.

There is a setting in the forum software for this. The default can be to
the list or to the sender.

Defaulting the reply back to the list makes it a touch easier for everyone -
you don't have to enter the list's address when you make a reply. But lists
set up this way, get a LOT of junk "me too" and "yeah" traffic.

Defaulting the reply back to the original sender lets all those casual
social (but not useful to 270 other people) comments go to just the one
person - it keeps the list cleaner. But, you've got to spend 10 seconds
addressing the reply.

With almost all e-mail software, you can make an address book. I put an
entry in the address book named "et" which is for
[email protected] Then, I put an entry in the address book for
"ef" which is for [EMAIL PROTECTED] I only need to click on
the address bar (which highlights the address that's there already) and type
et or ef and it replaces the sender's address. Then I hit tab or send and
the forum address is filled in automatically. Try it, you'll like it.

There's another way to do it that's easier but I ask you to use your smarts
EVERY time you do it this way: Hit <reply all> and then click on and DELETE
the address you DON'T want to send it to. Please, DON'T make a habit of
sending it to both addressees.

If someone asks a question and I'm giving an answer that seems important for
the person to have - especially if there's some need for speed or
promptness, then I WILL send the answer to both the person and the forum.
That makes sure the person will get the answer quickly though they also get
a useless duplicate.

As an aside, I'll keep asking everyone to be a member of tech. (There's one
guy who is not - he has an interest in Coupes but won't be buying soon.)
So, if you advertise your Coupe, you only need to send it to -tech.
Anything that's on-topic need only be sent to -tech. There's virtually
never a need to double-post any message - even this one.

Thanks.
