Hey Linda: I have run into this problem before. I cannot currently locate my
parts catalog, however, as I recall, there are three gaskets required. One on
each side of the plastic lens, and one under the metal ring that holds the
gauge. I had a problem with Univair not furnishing enough gaskets (this was a
few years ago) and I ended up making my own. Fuel lube (sealer) helps, but it
also softens the cork gaskets. That is why it is recommended to put the
whole thing together with out any gasket sealer. If you make your own gaskets
out
of a good gasket material (not cork) you can use the sealer without any
problems.
I would try to make a drawing, but do not know how I would get it on the
computer. As I recall, there is a metal piece (ring?) that holds the gauge.
Then there is a plastic lens, and a metal ring that holds the plastic lens in
place. If you place a gasket under the first metal piece, and put that in
position, then put a gasket on each side of the plastic lens and hold it all
together with the screws through the metal ring and gasket-plastic lens set
up,
you can put it in place, carefully tighten the screws and it will not leak.
I hope you can make sense out of this, but the key is to have 3 (three)
gaskets.
