Ed;
In their wisdom the FAA has determined that everybody who is anybody has email.
 They are discontinuing sending paper AD's and NPRMs through the mail and are
now doing it through electronic media. We all know that no one ever misses an
email so this will not only ensure everyone receives the notes, but will
probably save them a ton of money on printing and postage so that they can hire
more experts as inspectors. Let's see how long it will take the lawyers to
bring action against AOL or Yahoo or Gmail when things go sour for a few hours
and you don't receive your wing-falling-off emergency AD. Bottom line, you
need to sign up for it.

  Subject: [ercoupe-tech] AD's

  Ladies and Gentlemen:

  I recently got a card from the FAA with the address of a website to go
  to in order to sign up to receive my AD and SAID notices via e-mail?
  Is this mandatory or can we still get them the old fashioned way?

  Second question, the saga of my rebuild continues, with the need for
  replacing the airspeed, altimeter, and artificial horizon! I have the
  old style gyro horizon and it weighs more than my four year old
  grandson. Best bet for a reasonably priced artificial horizon?
