In their wisdom the FAA has determined that everybody who is anybody has email. They are discontinuing sending paper AD's and NPRMs through the mail and are now doing it through electronic media. We all know that no one ever misses an email so this will not only ensure everyone receives the notes, but will probably save them a ton of money on printing and postage so that they can hire more experts as inspectors. Let's see how long it will take the lawyers to bring action against AOL or Yahoo or Gmail when things go sour for a few hours and you don't receive your wing-falling-off emergency AD. Bottom line, you need to sign up for it.
I was talking with a FSDO guy about the Wings program and I, too, asked about continuing to receive paper ADs, etc. He referred to "efficiency" and "cost reduction" and had to pull himself up short from saying that the Feds had Iraq to pay for and had to save money where they could. He effectively said it anyway.
