I brought the JT coupe from AZ to TX on a trailer specifically designed to
accommodate dual snowmobiles. The fuse is still on there, it's easier to work
on! I bought it in anticipation of running around the area buying old coupes,
but it hasn't worked out that way just yet. It was a bear to load because of
the angles, but it worked out well because the gear was fully loaded and I
didn't have to fabricate a side extension on it for the wheels. The gear is
just under 8.5 ft wide. If you decide to haul (I would definitely pay
someone's "expenses" to fly it, it will be cheaper), make sure you have enough
foam and soft material to put between the wings that will slip under the
trailer.

And yes, my soapbox has always been "HAVE A GOOD PREBUY COMPLETED!"

If the coupe is close by one of our members, I'm sure they'll help as much as
their time allows.

Dan, let folks here know where it is and where it needs to go and you just
might find a ferry pilot. As for hauling it; its probably the easiest plane
around to get on a trailer. Keep us posted.

Subject: [ercoupe-tech] Couple of questions on buying an Ercoupe

I'm going to buy an Ercoupe and looking at 3 or 4 that are on the market. I
am a paraplegic
so not practical to go pick it up. My friend says just take the wings off and
trailer it home.
How big a job is that (in hours/dollars) vs paying someone to ferry it for me?

One of the planes is not painted....polished aluminum instead. How much
upkeep does the
  polished aluminum take?

Thanks in advance for the advice,
  Dan
