Frank, I had a small, original door, then later I had the larger door. The larger door *can* be used at the risk of oil on your sleeve.
I'm with Syd. You're better off getting camlock fasteners on your side-cowl and making a good hold-open mechanism so it doesn't fall on your head while you take a good look and have easy access to things. (I had Dzus fasteners for a while and didn't like them. I liked the camlock much better.) Ed
