I t is my understanding, that you must pay attention to how your engine is made
to come up with the best engine preheater.

In an engine that has an oil sump as an integral part of the engine, a sump
heater may be permissable. However If your engine is made with an external oil
tank, a sump heater alone may not be a good choice.
In extreme cold temperatures you will have a different expansion and
contraction rate between the cast iron Cyl's and the aluminum crank case.

The way an engine is designed in a Coupe, a sump heater does nothing to help
hold the tolerances of the engine. On a fresh or extremely low time engine, in
EXTREME cold temps, it would be possible to close the bearing clearance around
the crank , and change the tolerance in your jugs.

From that stand point, if you live in an area of those kind of temps, a
Tannis or Reiff system might be your better choice.I believe one has a probe
that fits in the head and heats the clyd,s and the other is a heat band that
goes around the bottom of the jugs, plus heats the sump tank.

THE SENILITY PRAYER :
Grant me the senility to forget the people
I never liked anyway,
the good fortune to run into the ones I do, and
the eyesight to tell the difference.
