For me Ercoupery is an exercise in Sport aviation in an aircraft that simply delivers the most bang for the buck. For the "project" I purchased I've added radio, Mode C transponder (Wentworth - has electron hungry "cavity tube"), intercom, GPS, etc. Further, I fly out of an uncontrolled field that can get busy so using landing lights and maybe nav lights (in addition to the wingtip strobes) in the pattern is not a bad idea. Too much for the 13 amp. system. Offered a 35 amp. system for $140. Sold 13 amp. pieces separately for about $105. I am on a significant diet so that I might get more than one more decade of life. The 6# penalty is loose change, especially since I'm going for the 1320# STC. Now back to "dumb questions": Dan, how much would an alternator cost me?
Jim Beach Brennan NC93963 WST / RI PS- Still hoping to find someone with an approved STC for the 35 amp. alternator of which I could get a copy. PPS- The big generator cuts in around 1100 RPM unlike around 1800 RPM for the little boy.
