First, I should tell you that I currently own a Grumman Tiger (for 15 years) 
and an Ercoupe without rudder peddles (for three years).  I have over 3000 
hours and am a CFII.  I can unequivocal tell you that I can land my Ercoupe in 
MUCH stronger crosswinds than my Tiger AND it's really easy, once you have done 
it once and trust the aircraft will do what it was designed to do.
