All, I also had the glued down wing walk compound and I removed it during
restoration, I used a heat gun to soften it to pull it off and found about 8-10
rivet heads stuck to the sheet of non-skid after it was off. Under the skin in
the wing walk area, there is a sheet of corrugated aluminum riveted to the ribs
on either side of the wingwalk and to the top skin with flush rivets that acts
as the reinforcement for the walkway. I had to open up the bottom of the wings
center section to remove the corrugated sheet and clean up the corrosion that
had caused the rivets to corrode away. Interestingly, most all of the
corrosion that I found on my coupe has been around rivets with the rivets being
the item that rotted away.
