A reliable source informs me that metallic petrol cans are no longer
available at the local home & auto store (what about surplus Jerry
cans?????). I was critical about all the jive about plastic cans while
I have 2 steel 5 gal. monkeys ("Eagle Gassers") in my garage [obviously
I'm 100 LotsaLead, but considering mogas]. I would have to guess that
if you don't feel like buying WWII (or later) Jerry (METAL) cans and
insist on plastic, the sum of all the comments seems to be to use a
kind of spider ground wire: an alligator to the ground if at all
possible, another to the airframe, another to the end of the filler
spout and, well, if there are more, it would be up to the owner where
to clip them (not a solicitation for locations).

For my part, I'm told that, should I go mogas, I need to worry about
the needle in my Stromberg carb, as there is a tiny chance it could be
tipped with neoprene, which I understand the mogas would bugger. If I
leave my panel fuel switch on by accident (it took once to get my mind
right), I lose 1/2 to 1 gal. petrol a week leaking past the float
needle valve. Is this enough to assume I have a steel needle and not
the dreaded neoprene, and so would be "safe" with mogas (I know a
supplier who could definitively tell me)?
