It seems this is the reason why the German authorities require passing at least 
a second class medical for anyone that dares to fly. For those older than 
fifty, that medical has to be passed every 12 month!
 
Now that solves a non-existing problem. Look we don't have any medical issue 
related accidents thanks to the over regulation.

Ah, but I remember discussion during the SP rule making process that there were 
very few accidents caused by medical issues that could possibly have been 
detected and prevented by the 3rd class medical.
