I'm not too sure the rec. pilot with driver's license medical is all that
great.

First, it could destroy the LSA industry, and all of the money and effort
that has gone into the new airplanes.

Rec. pilots can only carry one passenger at a time anyhow, so the only real
difference is that a rec. pilot can fly up to 180 hp airplanes like a 172,
but again, without using the back seat.

All you'd accomplish is that 150s, 172s, and a few more airplanes could be
flown without medicals, but the operating envelope of the pilot isn't much
different.

Is that worth jeopardizing the millions that have been put into LSA
airplanes in the past 4 years?

As my wife is a recreational pilot I called AOPA recently about this
and they told me they were again making this one of their priorities
to bring up to FAA. I will be going from Commercial Pilot to Sport on
Oct 1 and looking forward to it. Also looking for a Sport Ercoupe to
buy with 4 others in the same situation in Northern Virginia.
