Due to the increase in the values of our little airplanes, what used to be "Not cheap" is now becoming "Not too expensive"! A good coupe can sell for over $35K, so we need to look at these things differently. Gone are the days that you can hunt down a $10K flyer! A $700.00 alternator kit is somewhat reasonable given the return of services.
Halogen bulbs are "Don't ask, don't tell" items, in case someone wants to know about paperwork. Al DeMarzo Visit the Ercoupe Swap Page Free, Easy and No Membership Required http://www.ercoupeowners.com/swap/swapbook.htm My Coupe the STC'd Jasco 6560T alternator (great stuff, but not cheap). It seems to be able to keep up with the bulbs and power requirements however; I only turn them on when needed (night taxi, TO & landings, or busy / congested airspace). My Coupe also has the Halogen bulbs which I will use from now on. The Halogen bulbs last WAY WAY longer than the regular incandescent bulbs, which only seemed to last about 50 hours. Much better long term value IMHO (like Cleveland brakes & Iridium fine wire plugs). Dan H N3968H Plenty of things to do like using halogen bulbs, LED marker lights, LED flasher or even just going to a higher rated gen and regulator, but the best thing is to if you're going to put all the bells and whistles on is to opt for an alternator. I don't know what it does for weight but it'll sure take care of all those unnecessary power needs.Recent Activity a.. 2New Members Visit Your Group Health Zone Look your best!
