Here's another condition that could be addressed in the discussion:

Background: A VFR only Coupe is required to have just a few instruments. I
think the list just includes:
Airspeed
Altimeter
Magnetic compass
Oil temperature
Oil pressure
Tachometer

And that's it. Seven instruments.

How about if you kept those seven instruments and ADDED your whoop-te-do
glass cockpit with all the bells and whistles including full instrument
monitoring (EGT, CHT), tach, etc., plus fuel levels and fuel flow AND flight
instruments with airspeed, altimeter, VSI (with variometer), plus artificial
horizon, plus built-in gps i.e. Stratomaster Odyssey

How about if that glass cockpit is added in addition to the basic 7? Does
it then need a form 337?

Would you expect the FAA wienies to give you any problem if you submitted a
form 337 saying: "This is a VFR only aircraft and has the required VFR
instruments. This extra instrument package is installed to provide extra
information to the pilot and provide backup to the basic seven instruments
and enhance flight safety."

I'm curious, too.
