I want to reiterate the BatteryMINDer site -
http://www.vdcelectronics.com/aircraft.htm - they claim (and I believe
it) that aircraft batteries run at a slightly different voltage than
cars (I thought he told me slightly higher), that their unit was set up
in conjunction with specs. supplied by Concorde and that, even with
float mode, an auto charger really doesn't cut it if battery life is an
issue. By the way, they have $50 (or so) BatteryMINDers that will
charge and float to the correct voltages, but only at ordinary
temperatures. When its HOT or cold, it will be significantly off the
desired voltage (I think he told me hot wants less, cold more voltage).
I concluded why worry since my 'Coupe is 30 miles away and I cannot
keep visiting it with my Fluke voltmeter to make sure it is happy. Now
I know it is on the money as well as desulfated, at least as much so as
I should expect, having used the battery 3 years without the fancy
electronics. I'd talk with the guy at vdc electronics before making
holes in your plane.

PS- Those electrical connectors look very nice, but I'll bet they fall
into that FAR void like the GPS "Gizmo" - "not that there's anything
wrong with that"
