Steve.

"Some Rippling" ... on the Bottom skins I assume.

This is a common thing on Ercoupes.
Any hard landing will let the wings move forward a bit, the rear spar flexing
with it.
Somewhere along the path the bottom skin usually wrinkles then.

A little is ok here. If you find the spars wrinkled too, replacement seems a
good remedy.

+0000Subject: [ercoupe-tech] Center section problem

I have come across an issue that I think has been dealt with beforeby the
group. In getting my coup ready to fly this year and conduct my annual, I
noticed some rippling between the end rib and the outer walkway ribwhere the
rear spar passes through.I have not pulled the wing yet (which I have to do
since I have notyet done the inspection holes in the walkway box.)I noticed
that when I removed the gap strips between the wing and the walkway, the edge
of the rib end trailing edge is bend a bit as well.I read somewhere that this
is part of an inherent weakness in the ribs where the rear spar passes
through.I also read somewhere that there is a reinforcement for this area. The
coupe is a Forney F1 serial 5713, so it is one of the later models, so it has
most of the upgrades that were made along the way.I need some information to
lead my mechanic through any repairs needed. What is the possible cause of this?
What possible damage do I need to check for? What is involved in repairing this
area. Thanks in advance for any help the group can provide.Steve
