Larry I think after the conversion I would still want to do a run up with the
same prop to see if the prop had to be repitched (NOT a flight test) Then it
could be cut down and repitched if necessary. I did not inend to say to fly
with an incorrect prop, the prop lenghts are required by tip speeds at max RPM
which do not occur at a static runup. As a A&P i did't see a need to remove
the prop, cut it down, re-install, do a static runup, remove for repitch and
re-install. The props listed are only for flifgt, not ground running, for
example "clubs" used for breakin are usuall 48 inches.

That is incorrect. The type certificate requires that the prop for a
C-85 be between 69 1/2 inches and 71 inches. The C-75 allowed a prop up to 73
inches. Even if it met the static requirement, a 73 inch prop from a C-75 is
still illegal on a C-85 on an Ercoupe.

Ed Good thought, but only if it will not meet the static rpm test. If the
75 had a cruise prop then it might work well for a clim prop on the 85. I
would not repitch until I did a runup.

Correct me if Im wrong, but dont you also often need to get the propeller
repitched or replaced to allow the engine to spin up enough to develop the
higher horsepower?
