Well I have been flying this Ercoupe ( 415C N3439H) since June 06 when it was
in a flight school. Most of the problems were caused by renters that didn't
treat it like it should be. Then the owner pulled if from the school in Dec 07
and I bought into it in May 08. The owner made alot of improvements over the 3
years he had it. Only major items we encountered was the AT-50A transponder
died and I just received another one from an owner in N.M today. Old one was
too far gone to repair. Had the DG go crazy but found a broken hose on the back
of the instrument. New hose fixed that. We have a new interior ready to be
installed this Winter. Also the parking brake doesn't hold for the 1800 RPM mag
checks but does at 1500. Understand this is normal. Wish it was hangared but
none available for 2 years. So I wax it alot. we have a large canopy cover from
Vruces and it is great. Also as it has a wooden climb prop on the C-85 we also
have a prop cover as well as cowl plugs and pitot cover.

On a flight I noticed fuel leaking out of the left wing tank so we replaced the
gasket and that corrected it. Replaced all of them.

Bought a fuel stick to insure my fuel is accurate. Drained the wing tank, had
fuel put in at 3 gal incruments and marked the stick so I know exactly how much
I have as I must stay at or below the 1320 takeoff weight.

Been flying since 1951, always enjoyed an Ercoupe and hoped one day to be part
owner and now I am and wouldn't trade it for anything. Going Sport Pilot on Oct
1 and just enjoy flying around smashing bugs and feeling that special Ercoupe
thrill. Sure wish I could get the hot sun out of the cockpit other than moving
the wings overhead.

Good luck.

Yes, I experience the same thing. Eventually it will be a new airplane, one
piece at a time over the next 5 or 10 years. Maybe it's just the perfectionist
part of us, coming out.

It seems to me that we all have one thing or another going wrong.
  Aside from cosmetic,
Is there anyone out there that has a coupe that they continually fly?
You know what I mean, just check it out and take off without yesterdays so
called worries.
And he/she can do this continually without saying. "Hey the whatcamacallit
needs to be fixed / replaced or what ever it is that doesn't work.
You all know what I mean. Just plain flying the plane stuff.
Every time I pull my coupe out of the
hanger I expect to find something wrong,
for that matter this morning I put the tow bar on and started to pull.
The plane would hardly move -- Darn it something was blocking the wheels, so
I thought.
I was wrong I had a flat nose wheel tire. Yesterday I put on a new Michelin
tire and tube.
Oh well tomorrow is another day.
None of my other birds seem to have had these problem.
Don't get me wrong, I love my Little Ercoupe and would never part with it,
but am I the only one with a bird that doesn't want to leave the coupe?
