Thanks for the thoughts, Al. The mags were rebuilt just before I 
took possession so they don't have more than 45 hours on them. The 
issue of something on the intake side might be something to look at 
if we don't find a sticking valve. I probably need to address that 
at any rate, since I don't really know if my mixture works or not. 
With the LAX TCA overhead, I don't get much opportunity to go above 
4,000 MSL. When I get my ticket, I'll be able to get to places where 
I can climb to altitude and see how the mixture is working.
