Jack:
You can tell your Airport Buddies (Commonly known as Airport Bum's) in a
diplomatic fashion that they may be in error! 2575 is the redline for an O-200
which swings a 2 inch shorter prop and needs the additional RPM's to develop
the added horsepower.

Sounds like a nice engine.

With that much giddyup you should see 800 feet per minute for five minutes.

Good luck.

Subject: [ercoupe-tech] What max RPM should a C85-12 turn?

I recently bought a Millennium rebuild for my C85 Continental engine.
Everything firewall forward is new except for the reman crankcase.

It has a McCauley 1A90-CF Prop - 7148 (climb pitch).

Full throttle static RPM is 2150, it climbs out at 2250.

Airport buddies say it should climb out at redline, 2575 rpm's.

Straight and level it redlines with no problems.

I disagree but I'm no expert so what do you think?

        THANKS A LOT!
