Thanks, Mike. I will put Fresno Airparts on my list of vendors. As 
soon as I know what parts are needed, I'll let everyone know how easy 
or difficult it is to obtain them.

I agree with your premise that mags should be checked prior to every 
flight. Since I am such a novice, I assumed that the mag check done 
during run-up would tell me if I had a problem. However, my mags have 
been checking just fine. Both mags show the same drop in RPM and the 
drop around 100 RPM. What I didn't know was the upper bearing on one 
mag had failed sufficiently that the wobbling rotor was eating away 
at the distributor cap (probably not the right terms... but you get 
the idea). It would have required pulling a cover plate off the mag 
in order to find this fine gold dust covering everything inside.
