Hey Percy: You are partially correct, in that there is a rear beam assembly
that was used in the Forney and later aircraft which the bucket seat sat on.
Sliders were available for later model Alon's and as a retrofit (I believe).
The early Forney had a one piece seat back which was hinged on the rear beam
assembly (the whole seat back assembly tipped forward to allow easier access
to the baggage area). If one could obtain the rear beam assembly and seat belt
lash up, I believe the modification could be done. Getting FAA approval will
probably be somewhat difficult due to the minor structural change.
Possibly some one has already accomplished the feat, and the 337 would
make great technical information.

I may be wrong, and I usually am, but I do not recall any Alon seat
structure with sliders. Alon seats are fiberglass structures with a metal
bracket
that has a series of hole in which a front spar mounted bracket with pins
engages, and the whole structure settles back in a special rear spar trough.
It
has been a long time for me, but I don't think the center sections on the
Ercoupe and Alons are exactly the same.

Subject: [ercoupe-tech] Re: Bucket seats Installation
Hi all.
I have a set of bucket seats from an Alon with sliders.
I wish to have them installed in my 415G by a competent knowledgeable
individual.
I am located in the Tetebrboro, NJ area.
Is there any person who would like to do this installation for me?
I would be willing to pay all bills for transportation, lodging, parts and
labor.
I just want to get the job done properly from someone who knows about coupes.
There should be no problem in getting the 337 from the Feds.
Presently there is no one in this area who knows about coupes or wants to do
it.
Some of you may ask, "Why do it" my answer is simple, "Because I want it,
O.K."
Any advise regarding my request would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you & Happy New year.
