Service Bulletin 53A covers the aspects of the rear spar reinforcement. The SB
states that adding the recommended doublers as a approved repair of small
defects.
It also recommends every plane to be outfit with these reinforcements.
If your plane does not have theses installed, following the SB would be the
right and approved method of repair.
To give you the best advice, it would help that you publish an image of the
kinked area to the group.
It is really hard to advise heart surgery on the telephone.

Thanks to all who have commented on my first posting. I have talked toseveral
A&P and Ercoupe experts and I got both suggestions. I stilldon't know what way
to go, doubler or replace. I don't have a lot ofmoney and I personally don't
see anything wrong with putting a doubleron it. I feel that if I put the
doubler on it and I happen to overstrengthen it and have a hard landing it may
crack the spar but on theother hand, if I replace it and have a hard landing it
could crack orkink it again leaving me back to the same problem. Has anyone
outthere ever put a doubler on a rear spar. If so please let me know howits has
held up. Thanks
