What John is referring to is that a non-structural part like the interior
panels of your Coupe you may alter yourself, even remove it and in most cases
not even the weight and balance will be affected.

If you replace the seat frame with buckets or cessna seats, you will need to
have it signed off and part of the technical description of the 337 should be
that the structural support of the back rest is insignificant.

An example on what is needed to make that change can be seen here
http://www.ercoupe.info/?n=Main.CessnaSeats

If anyone has a copy of the 337 lying around for that change, I'd appreciate
sharing it on the http://www.ercoupe.info site.

(just E-Mail me)

BTW. I had bucket seats in my Ercoupe when I bought it and the installation was
not signed off. The first thing we did in preparation of the next annual was
installing the original seat. ( Set me back over 1000 bucks back then)

Mr. Ed.,
I am working on my IA now, and I can tell you, everything on the coupe is
structural. I do not think anyone would argue this. Sorry, Kim, I mentioned
this many months ago...That said, if you can get someone to sign off---it is
legal. My other airplane, a Piper Pa 22 has a similair structure. John

Hi everyone,
I am considering changing the seats in my 415 G which has a bench type seat
similar to the C and D models but with two separate cushions for the seats.
My question is as follows:
Is the bench type "Seat back frame"
a structural part of the aircraft?
