Richard: The bonding jumber should be made from tinned braided shield about 1/4" wide. It should be about 2" long and installed in such a fashion as to have negligible effect on control movement. The correct part number is 16001-17 or MS25083-2BB2. Number 10 wire is too stiff, even if you get finely stranded wire.
As others have said, the consequences of flying without it, legalities aside, is likely nil. Many aircraft of the age did not have bonding jumpers. One possible consequence is mysterious radio noise. John Cooper Skyport Services www.skyportservices.net
