I got my interior from Artex as well. A bit pricey, but a perfect fit and a
very good service - at least 10 years ago.

There are 2 side panels that go under the dash so to say. These do have pouches
sewed on. These sides are replacing whatever you have there.

2 other side panels are reaching left and right from the seat cushion to the
window. You need to keep the metal covering of the windows here. And find a way
to fasten the side panel with glue, velcro or small screws.

Then fasten the back rest to the frame with a string and throw in the seat
cushion and you are done.

We have the entire interior from Airtex and soon will be installing it.
Question - as our panels are now metal, should they be removed and the Airtex
material secured to the frame ? Or does the metal stay in place and we secure
the Airtex to that ? What is the best type of glue or other means to secure the
sides ?

In the meantime is there a way we can secure , probably using Velcro, a pouch
by the pilots ( or both) side to hold maps, checklists, etc ? We presently put
the checklist and maps under our legs which can get uncomfortable at times.

We just installed the STC for the starter relay and noticed alot of old wiring.
So we replaced most of it at the same time. Some looked like 1946 vintage.

Glen and all,

There is really no reason that Gary or anyone can't install the Airtex interior
him/herself. When I received my box from Airtex, I opened it, looked over the
parts enclosed, and said to myself, "Well, this ought to take about 4 hours to
install." I started and was done in less than two hours! Usually when I make
a time estimate, it actually comes out about twice or three times as long as
whatever I estimated. This is the only job I ever did that took half as long
as my estimate.

As Syd stated, the Airtex interior look goods. They are also made of FAA
approved materials. If you have a mechanic do all the work the total will cost
you about the same as if you go to a custom interior shop and have a custom job
done. I have had two custom jobs done in Ercoupes and the price came to around
$3000. The only advantage to a custom shop over Airtex is "customization".
While the Airtex interiors look good, they all look kind of the same (except
for color). if you want something different, like custom stitching, puckered
fabric, pleating, mixed fabric and leather, etc, you only can get that from a
custom shop, as far as I know.

Hi gang, as you all know by now, N94029 has undergone a major front to back
going over. Now, I am thinking about redoing the interior. I live in Menomonie,
Wi. Are there any shops around my area that does interior restoration? Any help
you have would be appreciated. Thanks for reading this note.
Gary

Gary,
I recommend that you purchase an Airtex interior. It is very easy to
install and looks great, in my opinion. That's what I have in my Coupe.

Guys and Gals.

I will be visiting San Francisco beginning next month and I wonder if someone
can help me out with a ride over the Sierras.

I'd like to visit Mr. Tarver in Fallon , NV.

I thought this is a good excuse to fly rather than spending a day in a car.

Maybe I can convince some one living in the area to fly me up there or even
better, someone would let me fly. I take over the costs.

If anybody can spare some time or airplane, please let me know off list.

Hartmut Beil,

Berlin Germany.
