Thank you to all who responded to my inquiry on the tail-low posting. Got the tail low problem fixed....75 3/4" now...first time since I've owned the 'Coupe that it's been correct and I've brought the tail-low problem up to a variety of A&P's over the years.
I decided to go with the donuts rather than Bellville Springs. Less expensive up front and I don't mind the idea of having someone knowledgeable reviewing the condition of my mains every annual or so and replacing the donuts and/or o-rings, fluid, etc. if the tail is starting to droop a little. They also fixed the nagging problem of the weeping fuel gauge sight glass. Others have tried to fix that problem, too, and were never quite able to get it. BTW - departure wind was 2...@17kt with peak gusts 26kt. Departed on rwy 17 with just a little forward yoke to keep nose wheel planted and at about 60 mph "jumped" it up into the air...it felt rock solid this time. My confidence in the plane has been restored. Re. the discussion on climb-out...I've got a C85 with 7150 prop (I don't have my log books as I write this but seem to recall that is what is stamped on it). My buddy was behind me in his Cessna 150 with an 0-200...not sure of the prop...I surprised us both by outclimbing him from field altitude 3,650 to 6,500 cruise. I was all the way to the firewall and my tach was showing 2575 and airspeed was showing +/- 65mph. I was just out of the 150's visual range when he leveled out. However, it didn't take him long to catch me once we were both straight and level. In cruise, I throttled back to 2450 or so and was showing 85 mph. The 150 normally cruises at 2500 but had to pull back to 2000 to keep from passing me once he caught up. Fun stuff. I love this airplane! My sincere thanks to those who got the 415C included in LSA. Looking forward to meeting my fellow Colorado / Western Kansas 'Coupers at some of the area fly-ins this year. Don 08H
