My plane only had a hand brake when I bought it. It was really hard to hold it still during the run up. You really needed Popeye arms. So i added a pedal to apply leverage. Now that I've added Cleveland brakes, a proper master cylinder and cabling there is no longer a reason for the brake pedal. Probably I'll remove the pedal next annual - spring 2010.
