Ed,
Suggest that you obtain and install a new o'ring on the brake plunger as the
old one may look good but have deteriorated. Then lubricate the plunger and
o'ring with the brake fluid you are using. I have never felt the necessity to
use some special type of lubricant on the brake rubber and never had a problem
in not doing so. the apparatus operates in brake fluid and therefore is
lubricated with it during operation.
In bleeding the brake, you might try forcing brake fluid, from the bleeder
screw on each wheel cylinder, backwards into the master cylinder fluid chamber.
That will ensure that all air is removed from the system.
