I've recently had some brake problems, despite lubrication, polishing the
pistons, new pads and fluid they wouldn't hold very well.  There was also a
'noise' when pushed back as though there was some binding.

New discs have sorted the problem.  On one side the disc was half the new
thickness.  We think that at full travel the piston was jamming slightly
hence not operating fully but also binding on release.
