Jim, LSA eligible Experimental Amateur Built planes are still being certified. Some of the companies which built 2-place Ultralight Trainers are still selling them (barring bankruptcy due to the recession/depression) just fine.
Quad City Ultralight maintained its long backorder list until the recession hit, selling the planes (which are on the FAA 51% amateur built list) as home built kits. In spite of Chuck's stroke, CGS Aircraft is still in business having been sold to people who should keep the plane kits available. For certificated aircraft, the 415-C and 415-CD are your best options. Ed
