No, but I had complete radio failure as I approached San Diego years
ago. Between Airlines taking off and landing,
the Air Force bas, mountains, and ocean I decided only safe place was
circling directly above the airport and wait
for light signals. Don't know how long I was up there (15 -20"?) and
decided to go ahead and land when runway
was "free". Figured that would be the end of my license. FBO said the
tower wanted to talk to me (duh). I went to
the tower and they were very apologetic and kind. They couldn't find
their light to give a signal! (I accepted their
apology.)
