Dan.
Because this might be a subject of interest for all, I send my observations to the whole group. By checking under the panel I found several spots where the parking brake can be adjusted or mal-adjusted. 1. The wire behind the panel arrives at the firewall in it's housing that is attached to a bracket that assures a nice turn toward the firewall. This bracket should hold the outer housing of the wire as shown in the picture, only the wire sticks out on the end. If the outer housing is protruding more than needed, there is your first adjustment point. Also when this bracket had been relocated, chances are that some slack has been introduced to the wire. Just moving the whole bracket an inch to the right gives it a full inch of adjustment. 2. The wire connects to a lever . On that lever you'll see the second chance to adjust the wire. A turnbuckle allows for straightening out the wire. In my example, the wire slackens a bit. Something to go after in winter for me. 3. The lever actuates the actual cable that connects to the brakes master cylinder. Here is another turnbuckle for the purpose of adjusting the cables slack. One has to understand , there are two cables/wires here to adjust. Just pulling on one side is not enough. The lever above should move freely throughout the whole action. Therefore you adjust before and after. Checking these 3 spots will let any mechanic handle the parking brake mechanism. Good luck. (only brake I can use with my paraplegia) Looking under the panel I see a turnbuckle that is tightened the tightest it can go. Before I pay someone to tear out the floorboards looking, does anyone know if there is another adjustment that can be made or a simple solution to the problem. When I pull the parking brake out to full stop there is still some more pedal left on the floor that I would like to be able to use.
