Well, if the data plate is changed, then there is a problem.

And, data plates are hard to come by.  They seem to be treated as a
controlled item.

Yet, as there's no record of the model change being done, it could be just a
mistake by a misinformed individual.

I'd keep all your other records "clean" until you get the data plate issue
resolved.
