Take special note that Mike Sellers of Univair said, "What I will share with you is this: We were very emphatic that any AD that results from this matter needs to require compliance with existing Ercoupe Service Bulletins 57, 58 and 58A."
I just pulled out my Bulletins and Memoranda book and re-read Memoranda 58 and 58A. (You'll recall, I ranted about the importance of 56 and 57 yesterday.) Memoranda 58 and 58A apply to maintaining the fabric covering the wings and the wing joint between the main spar and the wing tip beam (the triangular wing tip extension of the spar). If you don't have the appropriate books GET THEM! Here is my list: Visit http://ercoupeparts.com (Skyport Services) and look at the online catalog. If you have questions, the Skyport people should be able to give you good advice. Every Coupe owner should have: AD Airworthiness Directives and Aircraft Type Certificate Specifications BM Bulletins, Letters and Memorandums The SET for your aircraft type which includes Parts, Service and AD Manuals FLITE-OP Flight Operations Manual (specify model) And at least the Continental Engine Operator's Manual, CONTOPS. I have also found the Continental Overhaul manual to be useful, even to me as a layman pilot: CONTOVHL. Or, you can get both of those and the Continental engine parts manual all as a CONTSET, which I'd recommend. I'd urge you to read ALL of these and pay your regular mechanic to read any that apply to your ongoing maintenance or, maybe, all of them. I want to see your Coupe flying on its 100th birthday and keep on going after that!
