The problem I have with every hold-open solution I have seen is that in windy
conditions, you must have something to keep the cowling from moving up OR down.
If it is just resting on a prop open deivce, the wind catches it and bends it
back over the top of the upper cowling. The device posted by Hartmut would
take care of that if there was a slot on the end of the leg to positively
engage the slot in the cowl bracket and prevent movement in either direction, I
think.
