I can attest to that. I have tried but it just keeps on running at idle. Pull 
it at cruise rpm and it's a different matter.

I'm pretty sure I read that you can't shut down an engine at idle with mixture 
control only on a Stromberg (but you can at high RPM). I don't have mixture 
control right now, but I'm having a carb rebuilt with mixture.
